SCHEIBLE

Martha Baker Smith

I have in my possession a German Bible published in Philadelphia by Berlag von T. Rohler in 1856. It contains information hand written in German. Some years ago I had this information translated as follows:

Family Register - Marriages: Christian SCHEIBLE
I, born in Durrwenz-Muhlacker Maulbron County, Kingdom of Wurthemberg, July 12, 1819 married on August 17, 1851 Katharine SORG,from Waldmar, Hamburg county Schein-Lainru born May 10, 1823.

Family Register - Births:

Family Register - Deaths: The handwriting is very elaborate and somewhat difficult to decipher. I don't know what ever happened to Christian (Christopher) Scheible (Shively). Katherine (Catherina) Sorg (Sorch) Scheible (Shively) moved in 1863 to Hickory Township, Mercer County, PA. She lived there until she died June 5, 1906. Her daughter, Rossine (Roszina) (Rosanna) married Peter SCHAFFER and died Feb 18, 1924. Their daughter Carherine Shaffer ROBERTS was my grandmother. I continue to look for additional information to add to my records. This Bible information was submitted by Martha Baker Smith.

SCHEIBLE

Louise S. Godwin

J. Andreas SCHEIBLE and Anna Barbara STAPF. Children:

Johann Andreas SCHEIBLE b. 23 Jun 1805 in Oetisheim, Wurtemberg just north of Stuttgart.
The first and only son of J. Andreas Scheible and Anna Barbara Stapf. Note: The minister at the church that we corresponded with in the 1970's said that J. Andreas Scheible was the son of Andreas and Christina Scheible.

Both marriages before moving his family to America Dec 1859. Bought land in Franklin co MO in Apr 1861. I descend from his second wife, Christine Dorathea MAIER.
Both were of the Lutheran faith in Germany but belonged to the Evangelical church after being in America. Where they settled in MO there were established Catholic, Methodist and Evangelical congregations < br> It is known that an additional 2 persons are in his grouping that left Germany via emmigration records. It is also known that he had a son-in-law, Christian MARSCH, and daughter already living in PA in 1860. His children lived in MO and grandchildren scattered across the country from OH to KS to TX etc.
The above son-in-law was a Christian MARSCH that avoided written records and is said to have been of French origin and had come to Germany to avoid theFrench military draft. No proof has been found.
P.S.We have a tiny bit of info on Gottlieb Christian SCHEIBLE whose wife was Christian M. HEUGEL in Germany and had three children emigrating but one returned. Someone said that Scheible could be Schwabian in origin. I have not followed through on this idea. I have not documented the next two generations in Germany well either. There is also another similiar name that may have come from Switzerland or Switzerland via Germany that came to the U.S.
One of the men listed in most of the historic accounts of the shoot out at the O.K. Corral also has a similiar name. Is he one of yours?
My sister and I edited a book that was a private printing by prepaid orders in 1980. Since 1982 we have had bieniel (sic) reunions in MO for the descendents of Johann Andreas Scheible.

SCHEIBLE Patricia Lowe
I am trying to find any descencants of my ancestor, George SCHEIBLE. His daughter, Elisabeth married Michael HOLT.

They were part of a colony of Lutherans who were trying to get to PA., but were sold by their Ship Captain, to the (acting) governor of VA colony, Alexander Spotswood. He had established mines near present Fredericksburg, VA and exacted 7 years of labor from them.
They left Germanna then and went further west in Madison Co VA buying land on the Robinson River. Then by 1750 they migrated to Orange Co NC. Michael died there in 1767.
What happened to the Scheible name I don't know. There were no other males to carry the name I suppose. But I have seen the names Shively and wondered if it was a corruption of it.
